DNS Error when accessing TOMB?

Post by MichaelJoly » Sun Nov 13, 2005 2:03 pm

hey is anybody here getting an intermittant DNS error that causes your computer to lose its IP address?

Some time when I access TOMB the little open reel graphics don't load, then I refresh and get the standard DNS error white page. Totally wipes out my IP address and I can't surf to another site. Have to reboot.

I'm typing this on my second laptop that shares the same wiresless router - no problem so far today, but this machine has also run into the DNS error at TOMB.

This bulletin board is the only site that I've ever experienced this loss of IP problem.

Any thoughts or similar experiences?

From Hillary:

unfortunately, the problems you're having on both computers are unique, in
that no one else has reported any dns errors to me. it actually sounds to me
like you have some odd preferences/options set in both of your web browsers
or perhaps your ISP has extra firewall protection set up not allowing the
site to function properly. even worse, you could have a virus. are you on a
PC? what OS are you using?

try resetting your web browser settings to their default ones, try deleting
any cookies you have (specifically for tapeop.com, messageboard.tapeop.com
and if you have any, for phpbb.com) and then delete your "cache".

all of these things can be done from within your web browser. you should do
it on both computers.
then try the site again. if it still doesn't work. go to phpbb.com and let
me know if their site works okay, because the tapeop.com board uses their
"software".

thanks

From Michael:
