I've not been able to work on my own stuff because I have been spending my time working on friend's records. Now that I am starting to get some more time I am having trouble commiting to a way of going about the 'sound' of what I am after. I realize how hard it is to record myself.

Anyway. I have been going through songs and CDs looking for ideas and I keep coming back to this song Ramshackle. I guess the rumor is that he records lots of stuff for each record and then cuts a bunch. So I wonder if he tracked several songs in this kind of a set up. I am hoping that its ambience is all real--from room mics.

Does anybody know anything about how this song was done? Or any good guesses?
