oktava mc012 'dorsey' mod - update?

Post by roryrok » Thu Nov 24, 2005 4:25 pm

so two important mc012 facts:
1) when taking it apart turn the screws IN, then the casing comes right off
2) these mics are made from random parts

i learned both things tonight and finally got apart my mic that had stopped working forever ago and soldered the loose connection (ah, the satisfaction of small-time self-repair) and also found that my 'matched pair' from the sound room didnt even contain the same components.

resistors of different values and manufacture all over the place, so i looked into the most common mod (the scott dorsey mod) and it seems since the article was written in september 2003 the parts list is outdated...

anyone ever take a crack at writing their own mod? is there another one out there i didnt find? no offense to mr. dorsey, but i'd love to get a more updated mod without buying the back-issue of recording magazine

Here are some cool threads on the topic: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=dorsey+oktava

What parts are you looking for? I found them all and did the mod about 6 months ago.
