balanced XLR to balanced TRS cable makin'

Post by pandatone » Fri Nov 25, 2005 1:13 pm

can you tell i have nothing to do today?
so anyways. so my motu 828 mkII has balanced TRS inputs. cool.
my hopefully soon working gssl has balanced XRL outputs. cool.
so, in theory, i just need a cable with an XRL at one end, and a TRS at the other?
assuming [damn] thats true. how do hook the up the TRS cable?
i have the 2 pin on the XLR hot. [thats "normal" right?]

Pin 2 of XLR -> tip of TRS
Pin 3 of XLR -> ring of TRS
Pint 1 of XLR -> sleeve of TRS.

some old equipment was wired pin 3 hot ( the ones I've got I've pulled apart, rewired, and slapped a sticker on the back that reads "Pin 2 HOT").

Hope that helps

Happy soldering
