Fixing a Shure 546

Post by aeijtzsche » Mon Nov 28, 2005 7:15 pm

I got this fairly vintage 546 on E-bay, and it worked fantastically for me for a few months, then one day, there was basically no output from the mic. There was a very, very faint sound when I tapped the capsule.

A few days later, it worked again.

Now, it's not working again...

The soldering seems ok from the body of the mic to the capsule, but because of the strange design of this mic, with the built in hinged stand attachment, I'm not really sure where to look.

Does anybody have experience with the 546?
