interesting configuration!

some questions:

what are you using for iron? Are those the JLM transformers on the inputs? What about those monstrous output trannys - what are they???

also - I see you have no power transformer - is that in a seperate enclosure?

Cheers!!

Inputs and outputs are the custom JLM transformers.1:4 on the input and 1:1:1 on the output.

Yes power is in a separate enclosure.I didnt build the power supply it came pre made and is pretty much wall wart in style and quite large so probably better off in it's own enclosure.

Thanks again!! Played a bit of bass through the DI and it sounded great.I'll let you know in time how it goes on my next session.I think it will hold its own against the other preamps i have.I should say that Joe at JLM was an absolute champion to deal with.Superfast email responses etc.I rang him at one point to check a couple of things also, which made life easier.Might even do another one when i get some more cash to splurge. :D

joe is really the best. whats better is that not only is he a super nice guy and goes beyond the call to be helpful but he actually KNOWS what the F is going on.

his 99v opamp is so fucking amazing it has like retard strength.

someday the world will know about JLM audio.

Yeah couldnt agree more.I tried the 1290 on an overdub session today and it was excellent.Vocals cut through the mix beautifully.Really impressive.

Hey Chris good to see a fellow Aussie here.It was a choice between Seventh circle and JLM.Import and customs charges on goods over $1000AU add a few hundred dollars on top which kind of sux.Not to say that was the only reason.

I'm in Adelaide by the way.
