WTD: affordable midwestern studio w/2" 24 & good ro

Post by scatrecords » Mon Aug 18, 2003 4:21 pm

I'm looking for an analog-friendly studio within a 400 mile radius of St. Louis, Missouri for rock band Prisonshake to track & dub 4 songs in October. Non-ass pain, older guys who've been around the block a few times.

Musts: record to tape, ideally 2" 24tr (16 ok too), good live room, sense of humor.
Would be nice: piano that's in tune, cool guitars/amps/mics, good price
Nos: Pro Tools as mixing board, cheapo analog mixing boards, digital processing and/or recording

I'm not a Luddite, but as the final results will be issued on LP as well as CD, the goal is a true AAA master...otherwise there's no point in releasing it on vinyl.

thanks! Your recommendations appreciated.

Echo Park in Bloomington Indiana is a cool place. I haven't been there in 5 years or so, but they have a nice old API, good rooms are talented and learned their shit long before Pro Tools came about. I don't have a number, but it shouldn't be hard to find.

If you are willing to come out to chicago, there are many a room to visit running all analog for more then resonable rates. I have gotten clients some really nice spaces for much less then they should have been paying.
