beer & gear in DC

Post by darjama » Tue Nov 29, 2005 12:38 pm

okay, so we've talked about it in the other thread (thanks for all the suggestions there btw), let's try & schedule a DC tape op beer night.

Anyone have a suggested drinking spot? Most of the bars I frequent are venues, but DC9 & the red room at the black cat are pretty comfortable & centrally located.

As a starting point, how's 8pm next Tuesday 12/6 for folks?

This sounds cool. I think I'm around then... tuesday is easy. Either of previously mentioned venues sounds good to me.

So that makes four, let's say for the black cat @ 10pm?

Hmmm...how do you recognize a tape-opper in a crowded bar? Both punch lines and practical suggestions appreciated.

Due to various sudden seasonal scheduling reasons, I'm thinking I won't be able to make it Tuesday after all. I'm just sayin', only because if only two people show, then there might not be a second DC tapeop beer night...

I'd say lets shoot for a reschedule then; seems like it's inconvenient for most everyone.

not to hijack, but my band is going to be on the road, and playing Iota in Arlington on February 5th... you guys should come have DC TO Beer Nite at a tape op member's show! just an idea... i'll work out some sort of guest list thing if everyone is down... or at least get you some drink tickets....

cheers,
john

iota is pricey a cover for a beer night. It's hard enough to get people out on any given night, tack a $10 cover on to that and it's even harder. Plus, I think part of the draw is to talk shop, which would be hard to do over a band, not to mention rude.

...which isn't to say I won't come to a show. share the details and some folks might come out. I couldn't get the myspace songs to play, but the descriptions sound cool.
