TC Electronics 96K finalizer plus

Post by 2db » Wed Nov 30, 2005 7:14 pm

Hi there,

I purchased a TC Electronics 96K finalizer plus...and an M3000

None of the stock settings sound right for the type of jazz being recorded.

Anyone own one of these, and have some advise you would want to share?

Thanks
Jim

I'm listening to tallest trees (Miles Davis) and a thought occours. There are a lot of ways to mix jazz. They use a spring reverb on the vibes and trumpet... it sounds so dated. I digress.

The Finalizer should be at the end of your mix, and at a very mild setting. (2:1 ratio or 4:1) unless you're actually mastering. You should make sure your mix is happening before you even take the finalizer out of "bypass" mode.

the M3000, is that the reverb unit? are you using a console mix or a DAW? If you are using a DAW, you might experience some latency with an external reverb box. If you're using an analog console, then congratulations, you have some of the finest tools in the biz. futx around until you find something good.
