I've seen NS10's with both horizontal and vertical lettering on the front, FWIW.

Also, as the tweeters aren't on a symmetrical axis with NS10s, but on a diagonal, that also indicates a 'compromise' for orientation options to me. Even verical placement of NS10's does not align the tweeter perfectly above the woofer...

And console reflections will always factor in if you can "see" the tweeter in a virtual "mirror" on the console's surface. If there is a first-reflection off the console at the listening position from both orientation options this won't be diminished much, if at all, by the change in height due to monitor orientation, although the frequencies at which the comb filtering land will be changed (all other aspects, including exact listening position, being the same.)

Burn all NS-10s!

My 2 cents,

No, send 'em over to me. I wouldn't mind having a few spares...

Apologies to all with NS-10s around the studio.

I KNOW that some fantastic recordings have been mixed using those alone (and by people in whose ears I am in awe), so no slight to anyone.

This is my personal issue and I must deal with it myself.

Although I think that those great engineers listen around them rather than to them - Sh*t there I go off again!

Aloha and cheers,

I used to hate hate hate my NS10s, until I got them away from the friggin' wall. Out into the middle of the room, currently 7' front wall and at least 3.5 from either side. (Narrow control room.) Now, they make so much sense (aside from the bottom octave) that it's rediculous. Combined with my aforementioned MS802s and a little pair of Fisher boombox speakers, I'm comfy.

They are making nearfield monitors to be in the horizontal position to negate comb-filtering that happens when moving side-to-side in front of them. Minor thing really, but in a well-tuned room it can be annoying to experience the comb-filtering though.
