Phill Spector Outtakes.....

Post by tonewoods » Sat Jan 07, 2006 12:49 pm

Man, I downloaded 5 CDs of Phil Spector Outtakes over at Dimeadozen, and it's sure has been a facinating listen....

Recorded between 1962-1966 at Gold Star Studios, you can smell the way they put records together back then....

"Can you use a softer mallet on the vibes?"
"Get a little closer to the mic, Fred..."

Stuff like that....

Makes me want to record a project with a bunch of good players in the same room reading charts...

Anyway, go check it out. It's a great listen....
"You see, the whole thing about recording is the attempt at verisimilitude--not truth, but the appearance of truth."
Jerry Wexler
