FREE Acoustic Songwriter?s EP

Post by matta » Fri Jan 13, 2006 12:32 am

Hey Guys,

I decided to give away my last EP ?Tunes To Fall Awake To? for FREE
DOWNLOAD, so if you enjoy acoustic singer-songwriters who can half sing in
tune you might like my stuff.

You can download it by going to: www.matt-allison.com/ep
And logging in with the details below.

User Name: ibands
Password: offer

It was recorded back in 2003/2004 while I was touring my previous record
though New Zealand, the USA and UK.

I recorded 3 tracks (Forever Unchanged, Before you Speak and The Waiting) in
Nashville with a producer/engineer friend Mitch Dane who was actually in
between studios (he has since moved in to a co-habited studio with Jacquire
King called Sputnik Labs) which we actually tracked it in the Nashville
Ballet Hall. It was done at a furious pace all 3 tracks were tracked and
mixed in 3 1/2 days. We tracked into a Pro Tools Mix++ system through an old
24bit 888 Interface.

Out of interest here is the set-up from memory.

Drums: Kick (D112), Toms (421?s), Snare (SM57), Overheads (SM81?s) Toms were
tracked through a Presonus Digimax. Overheads, Kick and Snare all went
through 1073?s with the Kick and Snare going into ADL Compressors and
Overheads through a Fatso. There was also an AT mic (can?t remember the
model) thrown up as a mono room mic.

Bass: Bass Cab with D112 into 1073, can?t remember the amp model, the bases were
a Fender Precision and Reverend.

Keys: A JV2080 loaded with the Vintage Key Board and an old Micro Moog.

Electric Guitars: A Les Paul and Tele through an array of pedals including
an EH Memory Man into a Vox AC30

Acoustic Guitar: An AT (I think 4040/4050) into 1073 and ADL compressor,
also used Sans Amp on the double guitar track on the song ?Before you Speak?

Vocals: Neumann CMV 563, 1073, ADL.

Plugins were mainly the McDsp FilterBank and CompressorBank with the TeleRay
Delay on a vocal track or 2.

The other 2 tracks (The Apology & This Thing Called Love) I wrapped up in my
home studio back in South Africa with my modest setup using Cubase (I?ve
since moved to PT).

Vocals: ADK A51, Soundcraft Desk (328, similar/same pres at the Ghost) with
Wave Renaissance Compressor and EQ.

Acoustic Guitar and Mandolin, Cello had the same set up with the Piano miced
with a 51 on the low strings and a C1000 on the high strings.

I hope you enjoy the music, feel free to leave comments and thoughts. I?d
love to hear them.

I?ve not recorded much since getting into DIY and spent the last few months
building my own gear. The plan is to wrap up my current projects which will
leave me with a GSSL (built), a G1176 (90% done), 4 Green Pres, 2 Hamptones
(1 Down, 1 to go) and a pair of racked Telefunken V762?s (Done), Spectra
Sonics 101?s and Neumann W491 Eq?s (Done) and then get cracking on another
EP using the gear I have been building.

I?ll be sure to post the results in a few months.

Cheers

Matt
