Behringer has come out with a robot that plays guitar. It comes with "V-Guitarist" technology, which, when activated, causes it to solo uncontrollably and cuss on the mic between songs.

Of course Behringer's doing that because it's already been done:

Not to be outdone, Focusrite introduces the "Liquid Guitarist," a three dimensional hologram that will actually take your requests and sign autographs as anyone at all.

I know most of this is old news...but...

I was in LA this last weekend for the NAMM show. My first NAMM show was a little overwhelming for me.

Saw MOTU Ethnos which was pretty wild. I'm a fan of Symphonic Instrument (even though it doesn't always play nice with my PT rig), so Ethnos looked pretty neat.

Rode is coming out with a replacement to the NT5. Looks pretty fun.

I met Dave Royer. Totally nice guy. I just wanted to hug him for all the wonderful things he's done. He would have thought I was rather odd though. I saw his Mojave mic. It looked pretty stellar.

Heard the Liquid Channel - Although it was not a professional listening environment, it was pretty awesome. Hearing the charming British fellow explaining how it worked added to the whole experience.

Saw these guitars called "RKS Guitars". They were some of the most interesting new takes on guitars I have seen for a while.

The people at Universal Audio and Earthworks were very nice.

AKG people were jerks to me.

Digidesign has a new instrument sampler plugin out - I didn't get to use it as I'm still at 6.7, but it looked neat in the demo.

Plus I got to stay with Matthew Sweet. He's a very nice and very smart guy. He also has some cool stuff in his studio. Neve 1066 and a mellotron.

That's my report. I'll look over my notes and read the hand outs, but for now, it was a blast.

Are you in Eagle Seagull? I've seen them in Des Moines.

Yes, but will it try to sleep with your girlfriend? Or leave the club while the drummer is still packing?

I recorded the cd and a few days ago was asked to play guitar with them on their tour. So next time you see them in Des Moines, I will be playing guitar and/or bass or rhodes piano.

Did you enjoy them? I think they're pretty fun.

If so, it looks like the same capsule as the NT5 (and NT4) with a cool mount.

(Having relatively recently purchased a pair of NT5, I hope this doesn't continue my knack of picking things that are about to be discontinued)

That Royer tube ribbon mic, they had at their booth, looks like some fun. I think they were calling it a V-122, I think.

I think it's actually called the NT55
