"make any flat surface a speaker" ???
I remember a thread about a couple little devices that attach to a wall to make it a "speaker." I can't seem to find that thread now.
Who's used these things? Which ones are best? Has anyone put one on a piano soundboard and miced the piano?
Thanks,

I think there was a link to it in the "plate reverb" thread below???
Is this it??

It's called a soundbug. I own two. They're alright. 1/8" stereo plug, little suction cup over the driver. Haven't used one as a mic or tried to build a mini-plate reverb yet but I've done some reamping with it. For example, I ran some vocals to an acoustic guitar body etc. It provides some interesting effects and ambiences.drumsound wrote:I remember a thread about a couple little devices that attach to a wall to make it a "speaker." Wow, and the sound ranges from "excellent to awesome" when mounted on the back of poster art? I'd imagine a sound like cardboard - though it looks like a fun toy for some things.Harry wrote:I think there was a link to it in the "plate reverb" thread below???

I would have guessed you were thinking more along the lines of the Clark Synthesis Tactile Sound Transducer. I own two of those with one currently bolted to the bottom of my couch to act as a sub that doesn't bother the neighbors. I've pressed it to a piano sound board just to try it out, though bolting it onw would be kinda destructive so I've never tried it for reamping or special effects or anything. Of course, bolting it to a 1x4 plank and then clamping the plank to things like a piano wouldn't be so bad.

I'd love to know. I suspect it would - like any dynamic element can, but please report your findings!dwlb wrote:Dunno. I'll give it a shot.bradb wrote:can the soundbug be used in reverse? like as a pickup?

Okay, turns out the unit only becomes "active" if it sees incoming signal. If you plug a CD player or iPod into it, the little red light doesn't go on (and sound doesn't come out) until you hit "play." This "feature" seems to prevent the unit from being used in reverse. Nothing happens when I run it out of a guitar. Haven't tried a line-level out yet.Mark Alan Miller wrote:I'd love to know. Yeah, the soundbug is a suction-cup.drumsound wrote:Are any of these temporary? I don't want to screw/bolt/glue anything.
