studio in new orleans?

Post by cjmnash » Tue Jan 24, 2006 10:11 pm

yo!

i'm looking for some studio recommendations in new orleans- i'd like a good console (trident, api, etc) and 2" (mci, otari, studer) . a good PT rig would be great too- mainly to xfer from 2". i'm cutting a rock band, so i'd like something a bit vibey vs. "commercial".

thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure Piety Street is open and running. It's a really cool joint with a big SSL, a great big live room and an 827.

You might want to see if Truck Farm survived. I think I have Andrew Gilcrest's number. He had a cool little house with an MTR-90 and a Trident with Uptown I think called House of 1000Hz. I fear that his whole joint got killed though. It was in an odd poor little 'hood.

There's a (seemingly) cool place in Kenner which is where the airport is. I'm not sure if it survived or not. There's also a room with a Neve in one of the suburbs. I was researching last year before TapeOpCon.

If you feel like coming to the Northshore in Mandeville, there is Balance Studio. I've been in there a couple times (not to record). I've had a few friend's bands record there. Pretty good stuff. Dave Fortman (Ugly Kid Joe : guitarist - Evanescence and Mudvayne - producer) co-owns the place. Hopefully in a few years I'll be able to take on full bands.

Our band, "IF", just finished a recording session at Balance this weekend. The engineers and equipment there are top notch. I highly recommend them. We worked with Dave Troia and Kevin Dorr and had the best time. The results were astounding.
