Have you seen his interviews? Some folks we love but don't see a need to pursue unless they'd really level with us...

The only interview I remember seeing was for a non-technical mag like Mojo or something. I think it was 1997. He gave totally straight answers about everything, including his dozens of different identities. I also learned quite a lot about his setup and his workflow, although the details have fallen away in my limited brain space. It would sure be cool to see a more technical interview with him if he would still oblige.
The thing is, he's probably showing up at forums and generally doing more to promote himself than ever before. The whole Chemical Brothers/Prodigy/Moby thing has kind of blown over (at least in the big label sense) and while he was not exactly a part of that, he probably felt the decline all the same.
At best, an interview with him would be almost as cool as that Public Enemy guy being interviewed in the new TO.

yeah, but Richard lies about his workflow. That's the point. He might be honest this time, though. He's a genius manipulator. That's the fun part of his interviews. The whole, lives in a bank, drives a tank, makes music with only his home made equipment. Get an interview with him. It's never a waste of paper. I bet he'd give a good one. He takes the piss with pop culture mags mostly.

Well. If he would just "play" the interview like a silly game, that would be lame. John Cage used to pull that trick off though.
On the other hand, if somebody could actually weasel into his workspace and check things out then it would be very cool. That seems highly improbable, though, if he really is so intent on tending his aura of mystery.

You never know what you will get with Aphex. He just might take tapop seriously. This would be the perfect mag for his latest Analord release.
Oh, he was talking in this thread on his friends (Paradinas) record label's message board
(look for posts by user name analord, that's aphex)

I would do a telephone interview or even better one in person. Email would be a bad idea.

Yes, the "how the hell did he do that" thoughts creep in when I listen to Aphex. I could spend years trying to figure out his stuff. Especially Windowlicker. I still can't wrap my head around that one. Regardless, my favorite interviews are Aphex interviews. He is always interesting.
Here is a relatively recent interview that seems pretty honest
