I second Kenny's request. I've got the RNP. Can't find much out there in terms of opinion regarding the RNLA. What do you think?

i've been using the RNLA on all kinds of things...it's really my first experience
with a levelling amp so i'm probably over/mis-using it
but i've been loving it on really close vocals with the SM7. it's adding
color for sure but it's not ugly distortion, it's creamy. i've also
used it for acoustic guitar tracks with my NT2 and that sounds great as well
more subtly compressed of course. i've used it on a one-mic-drum kit
situation as well on my new cover that's up right now...i used the Log Rel
feature which seemed to give the kick a bit more definition. but i also
ran that all thru my old RAT pedal for a bit more color! i'm excited about
this drum sound though...let me know what you think:

overall, for the price especially, i can say it's definitely worth checking out
especially for less experienced, smaller budget home-recorder types like me.

Great job. I like the sound of the "lead guitar" - the fendery tone. Nice open mix. Sparse, but interesting and captivating. Good vocal harmonies. Your song?

That RNLA puts the vox nice and upfront. The drum sound is Lips-out.

hey Ben,

thanks. yeah, that lead guitar is my new Casino (MIK), that i love, thru
a (you guessed it) fender princeton reverb.

it's actually a SMOG song from a while ago...i'm doing a cover for every
week in 2006. i write my own songs too though! new album out this year.

Sweet! I love the distorted snare and the heavy ring is "lips-out" as Ben put it.
The electric guitar is a great touch and the vox are right where they should be. I definitely hear that the RNLA is "thicker" than the RNC on vox.

really? i've followed DCFC since they started so i guess his voice is
probably an influence, but i don't try to sound like anyone
(except george harrison, horribly...).

other gear...i don't want to give away all my secrets. i have a little
joe meek pre/comp/eq that i've been using on mostly instruments
and the vocals on that track were: SM7 - TL audio tube pre - RNLA.

Damn. I really like the SM7's vocal sound (no wonder it's in the hands of the likes of Jeff Tweedy) - larger than life, but not obnoxious. I've got a Beyer M201 on the way, and that'll be my first dynamic. Hopefully that will be equally as present.

Nothing wrong with imitating George Harrison's vocal stylings... especially if you ever write a song half as good as "Isn't it a pity." Good goddamn.

Oh, Elliott. Just reading his name makes me sad... oy.

King's Crossing is a killer song. I've tested a few Elliott covers, but my voice has sounded too - what's the word? - thick? - to get it right. So much of him was the frailty, the uncertainty. What wasn't/couldn't be sung, versus what was.
