Modular synth: Mixer as CV amp?

Post by apropos of nothing » Mon Feb 06, 2006 2:27 pm

Hey there!

I have a CV input on my sampler. I managed to use the Envelope-follower CV-out on my Moogerfooger LPF-101 as a CV for it previously, but I had to massively crank the gain in order to get a useful voltage range.

So my question is, could I use a little (audio) line-mixer as a gain-stage for CV? Am I gonna blow anything up?

TIA!

Most regular audio mixers have capacitors to block DC so you don't blow up your speakers.
I doubt you'll hurt anything by trying, though.
The Moog CP-251 is pretty good bang for the buck (not to mention a cosmetic match w/ the MF-101) so if you have the cash, I'd highly recommend it.

Good to know. I'll try it. (...and report back on my results.)

CP-251 is tempting. But so are a lot of things. I've got bad G.A.S. Neeeeed... Maalloooxxxxxx.
