I got a mint Yamaha pm1000........what's it worth?

Post by GCMan » Tue Feb 07, 2006 12:28 pm

Got it off a guy today for $100, full 16 ch board mint condition. Just wondering if I'm better off selling the channel or the board as a whole.

Figure out how to rack mount the individual channels and then sell one to me for $128.50. Repeat as needed.
check out what I did on my Otrari 8 track at

I'll 3rd that.

You could also take a bunch of super high rez photos inside and out and sell them on the web as Gear Porn. 8)

Yea Man it is exactly that board. I think I'm going to keep it and use it a summing mixer for Pro Tools. I was a little pissed when I noticed it didn't have direct outs. I was thinking of having it worked on to give me at least 8 direct outs so i could use 8 of the pre's as pre's only. Any opinions?

Fark, I think we had one of these at my music store for $150. I hope it hasn't sold, I'm on it!

Probably very worthwile to put in some direct outputs, but I don't think you'd want to part it out just yet.

The one thing I don't like about the PM-1000 is that the channels are kind of noisy by today's standards. Decent for dynamic mics on louder sources (supposedly great on drums). Probably not very useful with ribbon mics.

Where did you get that photo? It looks like mine (same bent handle, etc).

I love the PM1000 for summing out of Pro Tools, plus you can ditch a few plugins for real outboard...
