Need a Mircophone Repair place

Post by will.record.for.food » Wed Feb 15, 2006 8:21 am

Hi all.

Ive got an AKG 460 that a grey capacitor? has come off after a fall. I can see wires on the bottom of it (very small...hair-like) and a place where it looks like it should go.

I also have a Shure SM87 where the suspended capsule has had the wires torn out of it.

I know the 460 worked, because it worked before I dropped it but the SM87, I got for free from my church because it didnt work...obviously. Does anybody know of any mic repair places...or does this sound like anything that can be repaired.

Im In the Dallas/Fort Worth area of TX (Arlington)...but I dont mind shipping it somewhere.

Any help would be appreciated!

I would see about sending the AKG to the AKG service center in Nashville. They do good work and have the parts in stock. As for the Shure, I'd see about shipping it back to Shure in Chicago. They may be able to repair it (or even replace it) for a minimal fee. Best of luck!
