Yamaha CP-70 :Recommend me an amp

Post by Trem2 » Sat Feb 18, 2006 8:46 am

So I've been just running my CP-70 electric piano through my bass rig which is a Plush tube head and an old Jensen 12 inch speaker.

Tone is pretty good but has kind of that "honky" electric guitarish sound.

I need something that makes this thing sound a little more natural.

What are y'all running your CP-70's through ?

I ran a CP-70 through my buddy's Barbetta 31C. Loud, clear, and natural tone. Impressive little amp, don't let its size fool you.

Thoses Barbettas are sweet. I use powered JBL PA speakers, Eons or Ions, something like that. They're cool too and take a beating.

I know I'm running your CP70 through your back door in the middle of the night.

Seconded on JBL Eon G2. Have one. Nearly flat response. Loud as judgement day (450 watts -- 300 horn, 150 tweeter). Love mine. Has been banged around soooo many times, and keeps on working.

But they don't do amp tones. You'd need to get a Rat or a SansAmp bass driver or something to give you fuzz if that's what you're looking for.
