Post by nickgamboa » Tue Feb 21, 2006 11:00 am

...ok, I am an newbie here and I have done a bit of researching online about this. I Think I have figured it out for the most part. I was just wondering if anyone had some recommendations on programs to use for this particular application? Thanks in advance!

My method...

I just went through the outs of my Tascam 122MKII deck into the ins of my audio interface (MOTU 828), then recorded live into garageband, audacity, tracktion 2, where I can then edit everything into different tracks. I've heard good things about BIAS SoundSoap to clean things up a bit, but have not used it myself. Save each track as a .wav or .aiff then burn to disc.

If you know of a utility or program that would make the above easier, let me know as I have about 250 90 minute live tapes (no, no jam bands) I would like to transfer eventually.

On the Mac there's Audacity. Super little recorder app.
(On the PC, for not too much investment, my favorite editor is Sound Forge.)

Apparently the newest revision of SoundSoap, for cleanup purposes, doesn't suck at all like the earlier versions. Actually works, if I'm thinking of the right software. Dunno if there's a Mac version, but a Mac user told me about this latest version, so...
he took a duck in the face at two and hundred fifty knots.
