The Toft stuff is designed by Malcolm Toft, who was instrumental in much of the Trident stuff. I had an ATC-2 for a while and thought it was pretty cool - it's the dual mic pre, eq and compressor. Like a lot of the reviews about it, I found the eq to be very nice - especially in the mids. The comp is tricky, and it seems like I was always either hitting it way too hard or not getting it where I wanted it - maybe that was just me, but FWIW, I just couldn't wrap my head around it. Sounded pretty cool slamming things. I sold it because I wanted better mic pre's and realized that most, if not all, of the eq and comp stuff I do is in the box, with my UAD card.
I saw a DC-2 on ebay go for around $400 a few months back. I'd pay that, but probably not the full 6 bills.
