quotes on messageboards

Post by jeddypoo » Sun Dec 12, 2004 8:38 pm

Hey duders. Please, when you use the quote function, do us all a favor and make sure not to erase stuff under one quoter's name if it's like a double-quote or something. I saw myself being quoted on the "24 years ago today" thread for having said something I didn't say, which, incidentally, I also didn't agree with. It's annoying to be misquoted, even if it is just a messageboard. Thanks!
I find adherence to fantasy troubling and unreasonable.

I'm not ashamed of that fact, but shouldn't it be up to me to say so?

...it's all stuff you said. Just not all the words.

All silliness aside, I agree, people should get the quotes straight--I've been misquoted and taken out of context and all sorts of stuff. Then of course there's the times when I am actually being a dick, but that's no one else's fault! :D

How about if you get quoted in a national magazine and they attribute the quote to "the tapeop message board."

That still makes me laugh. EVErY frikkin month...

Hey, Furman once quoted me in a print ad from something I wrote on my warranty registration card!

I got the feeling they were a little desperate.

All silliness aside, I do agree, it's best to be very careful when quoting. Once I mis-edited a quote and got yelled at pretty bad. I earned it, and I'll try never, ever, to do it again.

edited for oversilliness...
