no you just got 50-50 chance lucky..I learned how its not right by rewiring some film lights for a different grid then blowing up a ton of expensive film lighting bulbs..

Capacitors convert AC to DC.
Rectifiers convert AC to DC, the caps just help smooth out the DC.

fixed the ground on the cable and the noise is mostly gone now. strangely enough the vibrato seems to have come back from the dead, and in my opinion it can do no wrong.

a bridge rectifier is just 4 diodes wired up a certain way.
