so our first record is out. we recorded it in our basement with a friend. the room is 13'x13'. did it live (guitar, bass, drums, main vocals), with one guitar overdub, a vocal overdub (which we didnt use much of, mainly used for effect and clarity), and background vocals after the fact. 1/2" 8 track (tascam 38). didnt really have a lot of gear, but i am totally stoked with the final product. you can go to www.themexicanblackbirds.com and click on the Skippin' Frames/Dirtnap Records logo to hear it (streaming). it sounds different on the puter...we're not too hip on how to make mp3's and the ilk sound good, so if anyones got a tip lets hear it. anyway, you'll get the dilly-o.
and now for the shameless promotion: if you like it, you can get the record from Dirtnap (www.dirtnaprecs.com), Mordam (www.mordamrecords.com), most rekkid stores, or from us.

Re: Mexican Blackbirds/streaming
I higher quality mp3 would be nice, this one was very treble-y/tinny. This type of power rock needs some bottom to anchor it. Nice energetic rock. Reminds me a bit of Raw Power, but cleaner recording and tighter playing.
