I'm looking for a quiet amp that can interpret analogue synths and drum machines very well. Something I can flip on and use without waking the neighbors. I don't like headphones that much. Sounds silly. I'd also like to use it to amp in natural reverb settings.

How about just an active monitor of some kind?

Well, what im thinking is if you just want to monitor your drum machine or synth, you could just pick up a set of the small M-Audio powered monitors and they would work fine. Probably wouldnt be a great choice for playing live but at home they would work fine.
