latest issue- gcpro ad

Post by drewbass » Wed Apr 12, 2006 4:46 pm

i've lost count- i think the last four issues- of the number of times the gcpro ad was printed with a typo. none of their people noticed this? after this many times it has gone to print? (pg 37)

"combing a world-class mixer..."

instead of combining? am i reading this wrong? its driving me nuts.

i wonder if they buy space in other trade magazine? i'll have to check if i'm in the trade magazine aisle.

i'd never buy a thing from this company. where is the slightest attention to detail?

anyway, your magazine rocks- it really does it for me. too bad it's not weekly.

Maybe they want to groom you for the high-powered, high-paced world of professional audio?

Maybe they're talking about that sweet vintage comb filtering that you can only get from reflections off of a world class mixing console.

Though I like Joel's joke better...It's subtle and funny. A winning comb-ination.

It's funny that you fell the need to rag on GC Pro ads and your own grammer has error in it...Read your post again and you'll see what I'm talking about...I'm not pissing on you at all, I just found it amusing...Peace

Chris, it's proper to use two spaces after a period ending a sentence.

I beleive that custom has fallen by the wayside in recent years. At least that's what a magazine editor told me.

And when we look back at the burning ruins of that which we once called civilization, we'll try and find that moment when we lost our way. Through our quiet tears, we'll realize it all started when we gave up the "two spaces after a period" rule. No birds will sing that day, my friends.

Try using the proper two spaces after a period in a post to this board. The board bot takes the liberty of eliminating one of those two spaces (I'm not sure whether it's always the first space that is eliminated, always the second, or some other pattern)

Anyway, try for yourself. I am trying in this post as I type this, but I know it won't work.

My two spaces were reduced to one, also. In my best young Chuck Heston voice: "Damn you, TOMB-bots! Damn you straight to hell!"

I find it ironic that you're starting a sentence with "And."

This is not really the TOMB's fault. HTML ignores whitespace, so extra spaces are always dropped. One way to get two spaces after a period is like so:

Code: Select all

<p>This here is a sentence. &nbsp; This here is another sentence.</p>
The &nbsp; thingy is called a non-breaking space, and it'll show up as a space on your web page whereas a normal space character will be ignored.

Please enjoy your HTML lesson for the day. Guitar Center sucks.

I happen to be using literary license, thank you very much. One may break the rules only when one has first mastered them, young jedi.
