I'm wondering if anybody could recommend a place to have a rock album mastered in the Portland area. I've considered Ryan Foster's place, Dead Aunt Thelma's, and SuperDigital, but I'm still shopping... any shared experiences with these or other places is appreciated. Thanks!

Bob Ludwig is in Portland!

Unless you mean Oregon and not Maine, in which case I can't help you.

haha. i got excited there for a second. "BOB LUDWIG MOVED HERE?!?!?!"

ryan foster is the name i hear people use the most in this town but i've never used him. kevin nettlingham is in vancouver too. he did our record in '99.

Depends on your budget, but I had a great experience with Jeff Saltzman. He is freelance, so he has an hourly rate, then books time at Superdigital. SUPER attentive, and has amazing critical listening skills. Larry speaks of him highly, and I agree. He's mastered a lot of cool albums including that diverse Jeffrey Pumpernickle CD.

Hope this helps.

Cruise on up the I-5 corridor and check out RFI CD Mastering in Seattle. These guys are great. Fair price and top notch work. Tell them Shawn sent you.

Shawn, the one that sent you.
