the email I received said this:
The current issue is issue #49 which mailed on Sept. 15.

Feature articles include Ethan Johns, David Torn, a history of
Electrodyne and lots more.
If you subscribed before Sept 7th, you will receive this issue.

If you subscribed after Sept 7th, your first issue will be #50 which
mails on November 15th.
Feature articles include Les Paul, Phil Ramone, Ross Hogarth and lots
more.

If you missed it, issue 49 is available for purchase now on the
newsstand and as a
back issue from http://www.tapeop.com on the archive page.

Thanks for reading TapeOp!
I'm a little confused...I thought there were 6 issues per year, which would get mailed every other month. Does this mean I won't get my first issue until november? or is there somethin wrong with the email I received? By november I might not be at this address anymore! Heeeeeeelp!

The e-mail seems pretty clear to me. You can always buy the ones you miss. My subscription got a bit messed up last time I moved, and I had to buy 3 issues. Worth every penny.

Umm... TapeOp is on issue #53- that's old info.

You should check out the regular http://tapeop.com site for issue listings.

Okay, I didn't really notice that it was from several months ago. Stuff has been so crazy lately that I haven't realized that its almost summer already. But it is not to hard to extrapolate from their dates and figure out which issue will be your first one.
