The Old Blackberry Way studio in Minneapolis

Post by Neil Weir » Thu Apr 19, 2007 2:33 pm

After working as an engineer at other studios for several years, including four years at Pachyderm, I bought the space that formerly housed Blackberry Way a couple years ago. As you might know, The Replacement's Let It Be and a lot of other great records were recorded here...

I wanted to create a smaller scale place where bands would be comfortable recording, where the time spent in the studio would be affordable, and where the final product would be of very high quality.

After keeping a fairly low profile the last couple years, I've decided to take on more projects and do some studio upgrades. I've installed a 3M M79 2" 24 track tape machine and a new console arrived today. We still have our Pro-Tools system but now we'll be able to offer both digital and analog formats.

Some of the bands that have recorded and/or mixed here in the past couple years include Signal to Trust, Sicbay, The Chambermaids, Malachi Constant, Vampire Hands, Gay Beast, Grant Hart, Tom Hazelmyer, Die Electric!, Shotgun Monday, The Vets, Chooglin', Gorge Trio, Styrofoam Duck, Tora! Tora! Torrance!, The Teeth, Anthony Newes, Michael Yonkers w/ The Blind Shake, Last Legs, Command Module, These Riffs, The Evening Rig, Since by Man, The Deaf, Low Lustre, Eufio, Hello Blue, Daughters of the Sun, and His Mischief.

In order to let people know that we're now officially open for business, I've put together a website and a MySpace page...

Strangely enough, it doesn't seem like many stayed in the Twin Cities area...

Things have been really busy around here lately and I've been neglecting my website but Chase Wackerfuss put together a nice new one for me.

Congratulations on increasing your workload. Especially in this time and economy.

How is that U47 you got from me working out?

Man I miss that one...
Howling at the neighbors. Hoping they have more mic cables.
