For now, maybe just post any reviews of 500 series stuff in this one. this will be the "go to" thread for all things 500!

i noticed that there are also several companies making the "500" racks besides API (Brent Avrill, Old School). Not just pieces that go into the API. Are all API compaitible pieces also compatible with these other makers versions of the same idea?

The only one I know of that is kind of funky is the old Aphex racks.

The ones from Purple, Brent Averill, and OSA will all fit 500 series modules, yes.

Regards

Hi,
I have started a company with a fellow producer/engineer called Standard Audio. Our first product is called the Level-Or, a Level-Loc inspired 500 series limiter. We have a few other cool and funky future product ideas for the 500 series format in the works.

You can check out the Level-Or and hear some sound clips at our site: http://www.standard-audio.com

We are currently filling up a waiting list for our introductory run of modules. If interested, please email us at info@standard-audio.com

Thanks!

That is f*cking rad dude. Sounds like a lot of fun. Makes me think of some Mogwai stuff I've heard.

Just to note: This is different than the Sherlock, which I believe is a pretty straight clone of the Level-Loc (someone correct me if I am wrong).

The Level-Or is a line level input/output device (unlike the original, which was mic in/mic out). Compared to an original Level-Loc that we used for testing, the Level-Or is much, much more versatile and useable.

You can add Atlas Pro Audio to the list. The have a 500 series rack and their own preamp.

http://www.atlasproaudio.com/atlasrecordinggear.html

Old School Audio have their own 500-series preamps too. Couldn't find their website, though.
