Am I crazy, or do threads just disappear occasionally

I coulda sworn I posted something on a thread here, and now it's gone. Makes me feel like I'm going schizo - which is entirely possible.

there's a few reasons they may disappear...
they could be moved from one forum to another that seems more appropriate for the topic. we leave a "shadow" when we move them so they still appear in the same forum for a few days then they just go poof and only appear in the other forum.

another reason is that the person who started the thread deleted it - which can only be done if no one has commented.

then of course there's us moderators perhaps deleting ones that are bad apples... that doesn't happen *that* often though so i'm assuming it's not what you're experiencing...

*frantically looks for lost threads that have probably been deleted for good reason*

Does anyone else feel sheepish when they've participated in a thread that gets locked down? Even if you think you were taking the high road.
