Red Bluff, CA

1. KRBH, 107.7 (it's the local high school radio station, and the kids play some crazy shit)
2. KGO 810 AM (the best talk radio in the U.S., hands down)
3. 1410 AM (this is where the local "Golden Oldies" station mixes with a Mexican-music station: very entertaining)

Seattle area

1) KEXP, 90.3
2) KPLU, 88.5

That's it. I don't care for the rest of 'em, although I do listen to KISW when I'm working in the garage.

Dallas, Tx
570 KLIF (for Bill O'Reily and Dr. Laura (sharp lady!)), and plenty of right-wing propaganda
?88.7? KTCU, only 'cause it's college
92.5 KZPS, classic... er... um.... contemporary... um... rock?

why? ktru has gotten kinda crappy these days, but still the only station i know in town that plays crazy music and explores outside the boundries. only place i know that displays so many different types of music, and the only outlet of world music on FM. i think ktru is one of the best things houston has musically, though nowadays it has gone down quite a bit...

i also like 106.9 the point, when they play bad ass 80s songs... but i hate hearing the DJs and their promo spots. i also like the classical music station 92.1 and sometimes 90.1 plays great jazz.

New York City:

1) WFMU
2) er, WFMU
3) obvious...

WFMU = free-form radio, each DJ plays what he/she wants to... so, every hour or so it's completely different music.

The commercial radio stations out here are a disgrace. ClearChannel is the Wal-Mart of radio. Even the "classical music station of the New York Times" is a disgrace.

Man that's awesome, I can't stand  ClearChannel and I think Wal-Mart is too big to for it's own good. I don't need a store that's one size fits my whole community. Bastards!!

Don't knock WAL MART. I heard an NPR story that really changed my mind towards them. Many "mom n' pop" stores regularly discriminate against hiring minorities and they often do not have policies regarding race. On the other hand, WAL MART is monopolizing the marketplace just like ClearChannel. I don't know what to think anymore.

Okay, Duc, I can see your point. I am the average white guy, so I more than likely do not see all the crap you may go thru in a day.

I do have to say, their customer service sucks. Most of the people who work there seem like zombies and you can tell they could care less about being there, like they are WAY above doing any retail shit. The problem with those big companies is they can't give any of their employees personal attention, and that kinda stuff helps build morale and a much more pleasant atmosphere for both employees and customers.

Having said that, no, I do not shop at Wal-Mart. I seek out small businesses and support them, much like I support my local music scene and go see shows and buy their CD's.
