Would love to see a melvins article.

here is my list of reasons:

1. 25 years on and still making interesting music like they are new.
2. have worked with every "underground recordist" pretty much ever.
3. Have way too many interesting sounds on their records that need documenting.
4. 2 drummers? would love to hear how its all captured and if there what problems come up in the studio.
5. they seem to have a good attitude towards gear, as in they seem to just get on with it and not wank on about stuff, still I would like to know more about their choices.
6. they have all got interesting side projects/ and done interesting collaborations... a story in itself.
7. Buzz seems to have a pretty interesting take on the music "industry" and doesn't seem to really care about what anyone else is doing.

Would love to see them in the mag.
Really cant believe they haven't been in thus far, thanks for reading.

Cheers.

Seconded. Sometimes their interviews can be real hit-or-miss but for this area of interest I think it's worth a shot!

They've made great sounding music. Plus even when they were on small indie labels, they would reportedly get a recording advance, spend about half of it making a great (and huge) sounding album, and live off the rest between tours. This was their financial survival plan at the time.

We're talking very small amounts here. They'd get, say, $5000 to record an album, record something like Bullhead for $2000 and live off the remainder. I'm not saying that people should be cheapskates when it comes to your services, but that is incredibly efficient use of resources!

Melvins

Post by punk » Thu Dec 01, 2011 11:55 pm

Actually I've decide a melvins article may not be a good idea... A dedicated entire melvins issue would be the way to go.

Make it limited and then keep some copies for yourselves to put on eBay, sell em for hundreds of $$ as melvins fans are crazy for that limited shit.

Seriously, someone do a really in depth interview with em. It would rule you know it.
