TASCAM MS16 1" ANALOG TAPE MACHINE. PRISTINE CONDITION!

Post by jeff9 » Sun Mar 20, 2016 1:40 pm

Tascam MS 16 1 inch reel to reel Analog tape recorder with dbx units and the A65 auto locator/controller. The cleanest MS 16 you will ever find anywhere! Heads re-lapped by Sprague Magnetics in Los Angeles with approx. 2000 hours left on them and new pinch roller. Everything works beautifully. I am the original owner and ordered the machine new from the factory for over $13,000.00, not including the upgraded metal reels, tape, and punch in mods. Analog heaven and built to NASA standards. Runs at 30 ips. (There are also new headstacks and parts available on ebay and other manufactures if you're concerned about longevity of the machine.) This beautiful machine also has the metal high quality upgraded reels. Has a beautiful A65 auto locator that rolls around with a 30 foot cable for controlling the machine and doing punch ins and has 9 locate return points for taking you back to certain parts of the song that you can enter in on the fly as you are recording or mixing. It also has + - pitch control. The machine also has been modded by Jim Williams, TEACS head tech, to punch in on a "dime", which is even faster than than the original stock factory model. Every single thing works on the unit. Every button, every switch, every light. All service was done by Jim Williams up in Montebello at the TEAC factory. Original factory manual, schematics, and a heavy duty broadcast quality head de-magnetizer are also included. This beautiful unit comes with a beautiful all steel seven foot rack with super heavy-duty wheels and nice grey cloth covered sides and top made of high quality 1/2 " ply. The rack also has a built in power conditioner with 8 outlets. Also comes with 2 reels of 1" tape that have been used once each. I have personally used reels in the past over 10 + times with no loss of quality. All you have to do is keep the heads clean and demagnetized. Simple! The machine has been cleaned and demagnetized after every session I have ever done. The rack alone was over $1000.00 by itself. As nice a rack as you'll ever see. As clean a machine as you'll ever find! A beautiful studio centerpiece that delivers wonderfully warm sound. First $2500.00 gets it. This is Tascam's flagship model and has been in my temperature controlled studio for the last few years with no use, other than turning it on and keeping it in wonderfully functional condition. I have recorded members of Bob Marleys band (bassist Fully Fullwood, and reggae guitar master Tony Chin), Larry Fulcher (from Taj Mahal and Bonnie Raitt), Daryl Johnson (from The Neville Brothers, Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, and Daniel Lanois). Also members of the Gregg Allman Band, and many more. This machine has been loved and meticulously cared for since I received it. Dependable, reliable, and sounds amazing. You will be very happy with this complete package setup. I am also including a 16 channel XLR to 1/4" TRS cable for the outputs. I have a nice video available upon request of the machine running beautifully that I can Dropbox to you upon request. The machine is located in the San Fernando Valley/ N. Hollwood near Vineland & Lankershim. Feel free to call me for pictures and video., or you can go to Gearslutz and search for "Tascam MS 16 Reel To Reel w/ Rack. Cleanest You'll Ever Find" to view pics. You will not find a more well taken care of machine anywhere! Absolutely beautiful and a dream to operate and record on. If you appreciate Analog Heaven, this is a rare find and you will be very happy with the machine and will appreciate the love I have put into keeping it in its amazing condition.

Here's a quote from another MS16 owner on Gearslutz.com: They're built like a tank and sound amazing! For warming up tracks going to digital it's a cost effective route...and it works. Funny...I've spent thousands trying to get digital to fatten stuff like it and still it has eluded me.

Cash Only.
