Thanks for the links. I checked them out. I've been wondering this lately about the industry. With iTunes, and Bandcamp and CD reproduction companies, why would a band seek a record deal? It seems to me like a band could do most things themselves. Save money to go to a studio (or record yourself, I'd rather go to a nice studio if I had the money), have the CDs made, put it on Bandcamp and iTunes and if needed hire a manager to help set up tour dates.

Most of the bands I listen to are indie bands yet most of them are on small labels. Do the labels offer bands much? The only thing i can think of is promotion. But a small label can't do much in the way of promotion.

Just some thoughts I had. Maybe if you're a band trying to make it, it would be nice to have a label take care of all that stuff so you can focus on song writing and performance. Which is most likely why you became a band in the first place.
