They removed the classified section. That's a deal killer for forums. Screw up your classifieds and it's OVER.

Same thing with print Newspapers. Free classifieds gets tons of subscriptions, but, pay classifieds gets tumbleweeds.

A holes also get tumbleweeds but it takes longer because everyone wants to poke the Ahole.

That just sounds dirty.
But it's true.

Yeah, I miss Thom Yorke showing up from time to time to give us the business.

As of this posting, 33 posts and 1300 views. People are here, they're just lurking. They're probably just intimidated by all the wit and wisdom that gets tossed around here.

I mostly lurk, unless there's something I feel knowledgeable enough about to contribute.

There are:
people who get the wrong idea about people's posts,
take things as a personal affront and then launch personal attacks on people in retaliation for imagined arguments,
people who purposely take things out of context to start flame wars,
people who only want to make statements to sell their stuff and argue that their product is "the only thing" that works and get personal,
sometimes bandwagoning occurs during a flameout.
It happened so often that I think, people got disinterested in commenting.
Maybe.

Also, the alert for new posts for subscribed topics doesn't work as good as it used to.
I've missed 3 before the alert for this post.

I do agree, that while this is a great community, there are a few people who are so confrontational that its not worth even posting sometimes. Actually, now that I think about it, there have been a ton of threads I have just ignored because of that and that's really unfortunate.

This is about as friendly a forum as I've ever seen.

I mean, the only ones friendlier, I been told, you gotta pay to join and then they expect comments on the videos.

This messageboard is something I check often, but i simply keep so busy with proactive stuff and building things and recording stuff, that it finally got a little harder to get excited about the 347,000th "which mic pre under 72 cents is the best for hi-hat in a rock band on a tuesday if it is raining?" type of stuff.
I am super always happy to help anyone out, and I do.. often,,, but it is a bit more targeted via email and direct communication rather than a community forum type thing.
I dont think there is anything left to say about an 1176, is there?

I told my own family to do that and then put critter repellent pepper spray granules all over the yard.
I had to. They make the grass mat down!

I, for one, am incredibly thankful to have had this "place" in my life. I've learned so much on here over the course of many years and various names, the knowledge I've gained here outshines a degree in engineering anyday and has proven to be invaluable to me. I've laughed, I've cried, I've found a kindred group of colleagues whom share all the same struggles and difficulties, and this space will always reserve a special place in my heart. Chris, Tony, Joel, Prof, etc., you guys are awesome, I hope you are all aware that your decision to share your thoughts and communicate your intelligence has seriously impacted the lives of many in more ways than you may ever know.

;)
