I don't know that one in particular, but have a VC3Q pre with the compressor, and a C2 compressor.

I like 'em enough that I have a VC1Q (not sc) on the way ...

I have an original Ted Fletcher one. I'd be happy to sell it for $500, but that's a thread for a different part of the forum...

anyway, "color" is what this box has in spades. Sometimes way too much. Sometimes it can get a little cloudy or muffled on the high end, especially when really clamping down. One of the things I like most about it is the "dark" mode, which is an interesting 2 stage release: fast for part of the release, then slower to hang on to the tail a little bit. The detented controls make it easy to recall particular settings, but like with all detented controls you sometimes get to a point where you want a little more of some characteristic, but that one more click makes things SUCK.

I don't think this is a box I'd choose for the 2-buss, but I have other choices I like much better (mostly API2500). Vocals? Sure. Drum room mics? Bring it. Acoustic guitar? Lovely. I guess I like something a little more sugical and less ham-handed on the 2-mix...

I love my SC2.2 and have used it for years on a ton of records. I can't see it being a mix bus compressor though. Vocals, yep, guitar, very cool, sometimes drum parallel, lots of cool uses, but not 2 mix.
