Still trying to get my head around this. Fascinating stuff. California and Book of Horizons are two albums I refer to a lot.

I agree! Both California and Book of Horizens are masterpiece imo. Glad to see him getting some props as an engineer as well as a musician/compsoer.

The thing I like most about Secret Chiefs is when they write in a certain style of music (say they reference a 60's surf sound) not only is it played like that style very it also sounds sonically like it is coming from the era they are referencing.

Exactly. Like building a model airplane with the kind of weathering detail that would convince anyone it flew straight out of the Battle of Midway. Or something.
