I've been experimenting with mechanical filters at the house and have more of a practical question about them. How do you mount them on a mic stand?

For example, I bought a 2' piece of PVC that a 57 sticks in perfectly and I want to be able to point it at a sound source. How do I get that sucker on a stand with the 57 inside with some stability??

Pictures of how you guys are doing it would be really helpful!

Thanks!
Chris

There have been a number of threads reagrding PVC shockmounts with hair ties or o-rings. You could easliy adapt the idea for your filter use.

I usually set the PVC pipe on an amp stand, and then use a boom stand to position the mic inside. Never did anything more elaborate because the PVC rig was never a permanent setup.

Uh, like so:

@rhythmranch that looks like the way to do it. Attach the mic with hair-ties inside the PVC and then find a way to mount the PVC.

When I run into a oddball mic that I don't have a proper clip or shock-mount for, I'll tape a piece of rubber foam on it to make a tight fit in the mount.

So, for example, if you mount the PVC on a mic stand (bolted or itself taped), then wrap the mic in foam and insert.

Drill and tap a hole for 3/8"-16. Then buy a mic stand adapter that goes from the usual 5/8"-27 to the "European" thread.

On-Stage Stands MA-100 is a good adapter for cheap.
