I want to do some frequency testing with a session running at 88.2k or 96k. The built in oscillator plugin in ProTools only goes to 20kHz :(

Is there a plugin that I can use for this? One that goes to 60 - 80kHz???

I would like to do a frequency response test for a piece of hardware analog gear, I.E. Audio Out #8 - to Analog input #5 of my session.

I no longer have access to a hardware oscillator to do these tests.

That, my friend, will have to change.

I have not yet seen a plug in that does test signals above 20kHz.

It would be nice to have one... as it is, I have a hardware oscillator.

Cheers

Even at 96K, our friend Nyquist dictates the highest waveform you can sample is 48K Wink Trying to create 60K-80K tones to test a 96K AD/DA is rather pointless. Furthermore, for a PLUG-IN to create an 80KHz signal, you'd need to be running at 160KHz and up sample rates...

Look for some downloadable 96K Wave File sweeps (likely 1hz-40KHz or so). I've never tried, but maybe Wavelab can generate these if running @ 96K? I know you can do full 20-20K sweeps in Wavelab @ 44.1K...

Altrnatively, if you create a 20-20K sweep @ 48 and then try to import it as a native 96K file in a 96K project (might have to edit the header), it should play 2x as fast (making it 40-40KHz)...

Where there's a will there's a way. Cool

Can't you draw waveforms in Protools? Just scribble up and down really fast in the waveform editor for about an hour. I'd be a bit worried about the electronics being able to handle it on the output side. But maybe high frequencies aren't something to worry about frying your gear.
