i want to upgrade my computer to win7 but it won't see my older rme hammerfall card - i need something newer that does the same thing.
(i use a radar 24 for converters and send that via adat/optical to my pc into cubase).
what do i need? _________________ the new rules : there are no rules |

looks like an hdsp 9652 will work. a little steep tho.
any other options for pci - lightpipe interfaces? (don't need converters - have that covered) _________________ the new rules : there are no rules |

yeah - it's a little confusing cause initially there were no drivers for win7 for my card (digi 9652) - then they did release some but only for 32 bit.
i am upgrading to win7 64 bit to access the additional RAM - even though i'll be using the 32 bit version of Cubase.
there are no 64 drivers for my card.
of course - i only found out after installing new RAM and win7 _________________ the new rules : there are no rules |

joninc,
Is there one newer than W2K_211? Does that one work in win 7? I have one of the cards that needed a brain change early on, a bleeding edge card...
I'm using a Focusrite DSP 24, with 2 pre's plus two line in's (and an AI
3 via adat @ 48k when needed), but plan to move to a UAD Apollo next year after a bit of time has gone by to get any kinks worked out of the upcoming 64 bit wintel drivers. With a Quad card you have a virtual tape tracking system. Intel I7 boards with the Thunder connection should be out by then, but even Firewire 400 can handle the 16 channels (8 adat) that the Apollo offers, but units can be added for even more channels if needed. I'm already running UAD 2 duo and many add on plugs...I am a fan boy. |

i'm not sure - all i know is there are no 64 drivers for my card so it only works in the 32 bit version of win7 (which is pointless for me cause it still leaves me at 4 gb max of ram - same as i have under xp right now) _________________ the new rules : there are no rules |

Exactly...I have 8 gigs on my board and a fresh 7/64 disk to load, thinking of just buying another drive and switching boot drives in the bios, I've had a lot of problems in the past using boot switchers...even the one in XP.
Found this tonight http://www.anandtech.com/show/5884/thunderbolt-on-windows-part-2-intels-dz77rek75-asus-p8z77v-premium so it might be affordable by the time I decide to switch to the Apollo. |

just picked up a used HDSP 9652 - it should do the job well in 64 bit. _________________ the new rules : there are no rules |
