garage studio question
ms morespace and i are thinking about buying a house out in the boonies. the garage is the likely candidate for the studio. from looking at pix, it seems like there's plenty of houses with garages that have ample space for a studio. but here is my question...
most of the garages i've seen are two story (which is good!). i'm guessing that the ceiling/second floor is gonna be not as high as i would like (i'm spoiled with 13' ceilings at my current place). i don't know much about construction, but i assume that the joists for the second floor are also crucial to the strength of the whole structure, so they can't just be removed. so, how possible/realistic would it be to simply move them a couple feet higher? anyone know if this is reasonably doable?
thanks!

Consult with your friendly building contractor.
Whatever you do to that floor/ ceiling... will not be cheap.
However,if taken as part of a larger modification to the space to make it a proper studio space, will not seem as expensive.
Cheers

It can definitely be worth it, especially if it is your career. Good luck!

Space,
Do they have homes with carraige houses in Boston? Is that a ridiculous suggestion and are they priced in the millions?
It seems like that might be ideal, if you're looking for an upper and a lower with higher ceilings in the upper space...
