I'm listening to it now for the first time since I've heard so much about it. Wow. I don't really know what to say. They really made the drums sit nice in the mix for each "sound." The snare is so soft for "Red Eyes" but then has a great overhead sound for "Suffering." Super cool stuff. It reminds me of a certain album, but I'm not exactly sure which one I'm thinking of...

edit- Woah. The snare totally changes halfway through "Red Eyes." Sorry, I've been critically listening to a lot of snare sounds lately to try to perfect mine.

Kurt Vile. It reminds me so much of Kurt Vile. I love it. If you haven't listened to Kurt Vile's "Wakin On A Pretty Daze" you'd probably love it.

Sorry for all the edits but I've had some beers and I'm live commentating. I fucking love "Eyes To the Wind." The pedal steel is so perfect.

Kurt Vile was originally in The War On Drugs for their first album Wagonwheel Blues which I also recommend highly.

The guitar and synth tones on this record are just classic, already. I'm in pain this record sounds so good (vinyl, pair of grado 60s). This is a goddamn masterpiece.

Dylan, Dire Straits, Springsteen, Tom Petty

My buddy Jeff Zeigler tracked this entire record. I really want to interview him for TapeOp. It's really hard to put into words the double-life relationship I have with all of these people. They're my buddies who I hang with and have beers with at the bar. Then they make music like this. Which is like my favorite record of the past 20 years. Seriously. It's just so inspiring.

DO NOT hesitate seeing them live on this tour. Aside from this record being a total fucking masterpiece, they are also KILLING live right now. Had the good fortune to see them twice this week here in Philly before saying goodbyes for a little while.

That's Mr. Ricky Ray Jackson, who I just saw perform live with Phosphorescent last month here in Philly. Aside from having like the best name ever, that dude is the most ridiculous pedal steel and guitar player.

That song was just on in the car while I was driving around doing errands. SO. GOOD.

I was about to start a thread about this album. I haven't been so turned on by new music in a while. Unfortunately they just played Portland last month.
Pretty good interview here:

And have you guys ever checked out otherbandsstuff?

That KEXP video is great, but the interviewer is too much! I think she's in love with Adam.

There's so many things to say about this album, but, as a keyboard player, I love hearing the Arp Omni on Red Eyes. Hollow Sun has sampled this board. I'm probably going to get it. Omnis in good shape are $$, but what a sound!

Oh yeah, last thing. I discovered WOD because of a link to them playing Mind Games whilst reading about Sean Lennon's new band, Ghost Of A Saber Tooth Tiger. I got to see them last week - tickets were $13!
