Went and saw him Wednesday night at a place called "Space" in Evanston, IL.

Played a 90 minute set which was about 45 minutes of music, 45 minutes of jokes, stories and politics in true troubador fashion.

Once I was able to relax and zone to the tuneage at his pace, it was enjoyable - totally impressive player with decent vocals and a fun persona.

Looks funny, too, but plays unbelievably.

Never used a guitar nor a banjo nor bass, but had about 10 different stringed instruments, had some kinda distortion on a thin electric oud.

Told how Arabic muso's is combining Eastern and Western music stylees, as he does - "Drives the terrorists fuckin' crazy!"

I'd go see him again.

He's the guy who played all the odd instruments on "Running on Empty". The godfather of slide guitar.

Saw him a few years back at the Ark in Ann Arbor. Great show.

I got some free tickets to see Wavy Gravy's 70th birthday extravaganza in Berkley w/ all kinds of people on the bill (including Gillan Welch and David Rawlings. Great )

I was really impressed with David Lindley. It was early on and all the Ratdog fans were yet to arrive, and people weren't really paying attention, but I was.

He played the Willie Johnson song that's on the spaceship heading out into the stellar regions, "Tell Me What Is the Soul of a Man."

Really legit hair raising moment on that one. Yow.

He played a good amount of guitar, one with the big hollow neck, on his lap.

He's got a real weird voice which seems pretty perfect for what he does, or visa versa.

Wavy Gravy was pretty hilarious. He kept forgetting peoples names and monkeying around with his fish on a leash.
Stilgar, we've got wormsign the likes of which God has never seen!

I had a great orange David Lindley T-shirt that I lost a while back.

His solo records are very "stylee", but they are totally worth checking out if you are a fan.
