Cubase 4/5 vs 6/7/9

Post by markraz » Tue Mar 31, 2015 8:21 pm

Hi, I'm still on Cubase 4 and 5.... But I may want to upgrade to 7 before it's to late to buy the "upgrade" for $250 as opposed to having to pay the full $600+ down the road.

So my question is... Are 6 7 and 8 that much better than 5? Can someone tell me what are the main advantages of 6/7.... ?

thanks

I started using Cubase at 6, currently using 8. I love it, but if 5 gets the job done for you, maybe just stick with it.

They changed the way comping works in v6 and personally I hate it. The newer versions have some cool stuff though which I like for mixing. Like seeing the real time frequency analyzer in the channel view window. Also there's some decent onboard dynamics built into the channel strip (compressor/limiter/gate/saturation). So I track with 5 and sometimes mix in 7.
