Otari MX-70 Audio Cards Noise

Post by CustomRecordingCo. » Mon Jul 06, 2015 1:39 am

Having trouble with one of my audio cards on my Otari MX-70. The playback level is extreamly low and there's a loud "snap/ crackle/ pop" coming from the channel.

Has any one out there experienced anything similar? I haven't had a chance to break out the schematic (it just started doing this), but a quick google search has shown that it might be related to the output driver.

Thanks for the help!

Possibly the driver, possibly relays, possibly a few other things.

Check the # on the output driver? It's the big epoxy-coated thing on the upper right of the card ... upper right as you're looking at it when removing it from the machine, that is. Hard to explain. Post photos of the card in question, if possible?
get up with it

Hi there,

It's hard to know exactly what the trouble is without more info. But for what it's worth, I've got an MX70 at my studio and we had to replace all the relays recently due to noise issues..... I'd recommend getting a good tech.... :)

Best of luck with it,

Nick

Thanks Nick. It was the relays. Relays are ordered, but not here yet :)
