soundtoys v5

Post by joninc » Thu Oct 22, 2015 3:26 pm

has anybody upgraded to this yet?

I am very interested but a little nervous about backwards compatibility/

ie: i am finishing mixing a few things were I really cannot afford
to have any surprises or changes in tone etc - specifically with Echoboy there is some change they made to delay times or something.

I would love to hear what you love/don't love in the new version.

Upgraded a few days ago. Haven't had any issues, but I believe there's been a maintenance install in that short time.

The known issues on their site include plugins not remembering your settings, etc. As a general rule, I'd pick a time between projects to upgrade anything on your setup.

Haven't dug into the rack thing yet with V5, but I'm loving that the update included all 18 plugins, including ones that used to be outside V4. Incredibly cool of them.

Hope that's some help.

finally made the leap - it's pretty great.

I already owned about 3 full plugs and a few of the freebies they put out at NAMM over the past few years so it only cost $50 to upgrade to the whole suite in V5!

Primal Tap alone is amazing. Filter freak is also really cool. Haven't messed around with the rack yet.

I got it over Black Friday sale. I think their great, the rack is fun, lots of potential for mayhem. The GUI for the rack is a bit glitchy with my monitors, because they are not identical orientation.
