Monitors (speakers) near monitors (video)

Post by CraigS63 » Wed Jan 06, 2016 1:32 pm

Did we used to have to buy (audio) monitors that were somehow "shielded" so the magnetic fields wouldn't distort the (video CRT) monitors near them?

Yes.

I remember when that was a issue.

I'd come home after a long day workin' at Marshall Fields, having walked 3 blocks in the blazing drizzle, with only a pair of Jimmy Choo's on my feet, and 3 martoonies and a pizza under my belt, and hafta turn on the hamster-powered generator (usually after having to lube the wheel) and pull-start the computer and light the candle to back-lit that infamous CRT what unshielded monitors would cause to melt down into Dell-tan colored slag.

Shielded monitors were even necessary if you had yer stereo close to yer TV tube; it fucked with my feng shui for years!
